Claire Elise Boucher is a Canadian singer-songwriter and musician. Her first work has been described as going into "lo-fi R&B" to futuristic dance-pop. It has included influences from electronic music hip hop, as well as rock. She frequently incorporates science fiction and feminist themes in her songs. Five albums have come out. Grimes was born and raised in Vancouver in the early 1990s, before moving to Montreal at the age of 2000. Grimes started releasing her music in solo fashion at the beginning of 2000. Two albums were released through Arbutus Records in 2010, Geidi Primes and Halfaxa in 2010. After the signing of 4AD the band gained fame thanks to Visions, her third album on the studio. Visions includes the singles "Genesis," and "Oblivion" The album was also nominated for an award called the Juno Award of the Canadian Music Industry for Electronic Album of the Years. Art Angels, her fourth studio album, was released in the year 2015. A number of publications have rated it the most successful album. Miss Anthropocene was her fifth studio album. Aside from music, Grimes had a voice role in the 2020 adventure role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 and is a judge on the music competition game series Alter Ego.
